Indie Alma hosted their first-ever Open Hangout & Jam Session for music lovers, hobbyists, fans, vocalists, songwriters, instrumentalists, and professionals at Woodlands Ash Lodge in Lusaka.

The Saturday afternoon began with soothing melodies from vocalists while instrumentalists tuned their instruments. In attendance were independent artists Weily, Chansa, and Audrey, along with skilled instrumentalists from diverse backgrounds—each connecting, guiding, and inspiring one another as the session unfolded.
Participants warmed up with familiar favorites like Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish, Fire Shut Up in My Bones by Abel Chungu, Chimutengo Chamango by General Ozzy, I Need You Boo by Chris Brown, and House, Money, Car by Nalu ft. Izrael (formerly Exile). The crowd also enjoyed original tracks by Chansa.
The Open Hangout & Jam Session idea was born from the need for artists and music lovers—especially independents—to connect, jam freely, and build community in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.
There was no entry fee. Organisers James, Tauya, and Weily deliberately avoided a stage setup, opting instead for a circle-style arrangement to foster open interaction and easy collaboration. Song suggestions were welcomed, and participants often swapped instruments to keep the session dynamic and inclusive.
The turnout exceeded expectations, and organisers promised monthly jam sessions moving forward. The event also built anticipation for Indie Winter III, presented by Levantar, happening on August 2nd, 2025, at Alliance Française de Lusaka in Longacres, starting from 3 PM.
Tickets for Indie Winter III are still available:
Early Bird: K100
Standard: K120
At the Door: K150
Indie Alma will also be releasing Indie SZN 25 on August 29th, 2025, across all major streaming platforms. Other upcoming programs include Karaoke Nights, Indie Summer III: Market Experience, and Indie Worship (dates to be announced).
