Chasing Creativity in Lusaka: An Afternoon of Art, Laughter & New Connections

Chasing Creativity in Lusaka: An Afternoon of Art, Laughter & New Connections

There’s something special about spending an afternoon surrounded by creativity — the smell of paint, the hum of conversation, and the joy of simply trying something new. That’s exactly what I experienced at the recent Chasing Creative Session hosted by Maison Studio — a hands-on event designed to spark imagination and connection.

I chose to dive into pottery painting and live figure drawing — two activities that took me far outside my comfort zone — and I loved every minute of it.

Pottery painting was a calming yet expressive experience. There’s something therapeutic about holding a paintbrush and watching your design come to life on a blank plate. I decided to paint mine as a little tribute to Italy.

Now, I’ll admit it — I’m not exactly a skilled artist. So when it came time for live figure drawing, I was a little nervous. But that’s what made it so much fun! There was laughter, plenty of erasing, and lots of “oops” moments — but by the end, everyone had a sketch to be proud of.

Whether you came alone or with friends, everyone left with new connections — and maybe a bit of paint on their hands (and clothes!). It’s the perfect activity for couples looking for a creative date idea or friends wanting to catch up in a relaxed, light-hearted setting.

If you’re looking to try something new, get a little messy, and rediscover your creative side, I’d definitely recommend the next Chasing Creative Session. You’ll leave with memories, a handmade masterpiece, and maybe even a few new friends.
